Wrong MTU size?

Hi, i have a question:

I have windows 10, and when i go to "show network property" , it says Maximum trasmission unit: 1500

my pc is connected with a modem , that is connected to a PPPoE LLC connection, and use MTU = 1492 not 1500

Should i change this setting on my computer? How i have to change it?

Thanks you, and sorry for my bad english

Hello wilvinell0

Thank you for posting in the Intel® community.

  • Please share with us what is the model of your Intel® wired or wireless adapter?
  • What is your system brand and model?
  • Are you having any connectivity issue?

Hope this helps.

Hi Wilvinell0,

Thank you for posting in Intel Wired Ethernet Communities.

If you are not encountering any connectivity issue, there is no need to change the setting. If you prefer to change, you may try the following command:

1) Use this command to display the interface

netsh int ipv4 show subinterface

2) Then use this command to change the MTU

netsh int ipv4 set subinterface "Local Area Connection" mtu=1492 store=persistent

Hope the above information help.

Best Regards,

Hi wilvinell0,

We would also suggest to get in touch with the modem provider for further clarification if it is necessary to adjust the MTU size.

Looking forward to your response.
