Can CNVi slot be used for generic m.2 modules?

    sknaumov

AFAIU, CNVi modules are inserted into m.2 E-key slot. Can this slot be used not only for CNVi modules, but, say for m.2 AE-key Gigabit Ethernet module?

This question has nothing to do with my system.

I used Gigabyte GA-H270N-WiFi motherboard at work and instead of WiFi module I installed Gigabit Ethernet M.2 AE-key module. But on subsequent GA-H370N-WiFi motherboard I see different implementation of Wi-Fi, using Intel CNVi module. The question is - can I insert generic M.2 AE-key module into CNVi slot, or can it be used only for Intel Wi-Fi modules?

                Hello sknaumov,
                Thank you for your patience
In this case, it is possible to design a M.2 slot to either support only CNVi or to support both CNVi and standard Key-E wireless adapters. This depends on the system or motherboard design so we encourage you to verify with the manufacturer of your system to check and see what they support.
It is not possible to design a M.2 slot to support both CNVi and standard Key-A wireless adapters.

                I hope it helps.
