Intel Optane SSD 900P  compatibilty with S5520UR

Is the Intel Optane SSD 900P 480  compatibilte with S5520UR? We would like to use the drive to add a new volume to the existing Server 2008R2. The drive would not be a boot drive, but a new data volume.

          Hi Ross-Milloy,

Thank you for posting in the Intel® communities.

Regarding to your inquiry, I have to tell you that the Intel® Optane™ SSD 900P Series is not a Data Center family. They have been designed for Consumer usage rather than Data Center usage, therefore the use and performance on server environments is not supported nor validated.

Having said this, we don’t recommend you to use this drive in server environments. Instead, I recommend you to check the Data Center families that will work better in your environment: https://ark.intel.com/#@DataCenterSSDs

Additionally, from the Intel® Server Board S5520UR side, based on this information: https://ark.intel.com/products/36456/Intel-Server-Board-S5520UR, this board has been discontinued since 2013 so it’s probably that it won’t work with newer drives.

I hope this information answers your concern.  If there is anything else I can help you with, feel free to ask.

          Have a nice day.

          Regards,
          Diego V.
