    Intel 9260 not working at 1.73 Gbps

      I had bought this card: Intel-9260-NGW-WiFi-BT-5-0-Card-Dual-Band-WLAN-M-2-NGFF-1-73Gbps-01AX769-W25 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-9260-NGW-WiFi-BT-5-0-Card-Dual-Band-WLAN-M-2-NGFF-1-73Gbps-01AX769-W25-/232756669233

       

      The hardware Id is:

      PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2526&SUBSYS_00148086&REV_29

       

      I have this Dell XPS 15 9570 computer:

      1 210-AOYM XPS 15 (9570)

      1 486-27723 CNX97007

      1 338-BOMR 8th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-8950HK Processor (12M Cache, up to 4.8 GHz, 6 cores)

      1 370-AEFR 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 2666MHz

      1 490-BEMR NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 1050Ti with 4GB GDDR5

       

      I'm using Windows 10.

       

      The thing is my network connection doesn't go faster than 866.7 Mbps.

      From what I can read, that's wave 1. Reference: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005725/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html

       

      But, I get 1.3 Gbps with my old MacBook Pro using both of my routers:

      • ASUS RT-AC86U
      • ASUS RT-AC66R

          In this case, In order to assist you, please go ahead and uninstall completely all the current drivers, and install them again by following the instructions on this link (even if you already have the latest ones):

          As well you may want to try our Recommend advanced settings available at:

          You may try to please access your router and make sure that you do not have any QoS (quality of service) active on it.
          If none of these steps work, please consider that the installation or use of Intel® Wireless Adapters is subject to country-specific legal regulations. In certain countries, the products can only be installed in systems that have a system-level regulatory approval. The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or Original Design Manufacturer (OEM/ODM) or the installer of the device must obtain approval.
          Before you install the device in a system, you must contact the manufacturer to determine if the product is approved for use in a specific system and country. You are required to follow the manufacturer's post-approval requirements.
          If the manufacturer does not have the necessary approvals, the party installing the device is responsible for approvals. Installing adapters in an unauthorized system may be illegal.             For example, as mentioned by Bardo_Pond at this reddit

            The 9260 supports 2 antennas, so the maximum bandwidth is going to be 2 x <bandwidth per spacial stream>.

            On most 802.11ac AP's this stream bandwidth is going to be 433Mbps, given that you are using 80Mhz channels or less. Hence you are limited to 867Mbps (433 x 2) rather than 1.3Gbps (433 x 3) as your Macbook Pro has 3 antennas.

            The rating on Intel's site of 1733Mbps is assuming you are using 160Mhz channels under ideal conditions. 160mhz is not common and can have problems due to congestion. Your wireless AP/router will need to support 160Mhz channels, you'll then have to configure it as it is generally not on by default.

              I totally understand.
              In this case our best recommendation is the one provided above as the manufacturer  is the one to determine if the product is approved for use in a specific system.
