Wireless AC 8260 dropping.

Hello,

I have an ASUS laptop with AC 8260 wireless adapter.

After the last major windows update I have started having network problems. Particularly, I can not connect some networks, including my wi-fi router at home.

So far I have tried the following suggestions that I saw from other discussions

"

1. As first option, you can obtain the recommended driver at the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/oems.html Computer Manufacturer Support Websites and continue from step 3.

2. If the issue persists, you can obtain the generic Intel driver according to your OS from: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/86068/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-8260 Drivers & Software. Current release is 18.40.0.

3. Go to your System Settings, Installed apps and features, then Uninstall "Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software", if it is installed. When prompted, choose the option to "Discard settings".

4. In Device Manager - Network Adapters, right click on the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 and Uninstall it. Make sure you mark the option to "Delete the driver software for this device".

5. Reboot the PC or scan for hardware changes, check device manager again and if an older driver is detected and installed, repeat the actions to uninstall and delete it as well. Repeat this process until the OS does not allow deleting the driver, or until the controller shows as Unknown Device.

6. Install the driver you downloaded before, customizing the setup to install all driver components.

If the issue persists, apply the configuration from the advisory: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005544.html%3Fwapkw%3Dintel%2Bwi-fi%2Brecommended%2Bsettings Recommended Settings for 802.11n Connectivity

"

I also applied suggested power management settings.

When I check the event log I see following errors

5007 - TX/CMD timeout (TfdQueue hanged) (source Netwtw06)

The network interface "Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260" has begun resetting. There will be a momentary disruption in network connectivity while the hardware resets. Reason: The network driver requested that it be reset. This network interface has reset 117 time(s) since it was last initialized. (source NDIS)

I can connect to hotspot on my phone but cannot connect to home wi-fi.

Hello Ramak,

Thank you for joining this Intel Community.

In order to provide any troubleshooting steps that may help you resolve this issue, it is important to know the version of Windows* installed in your computer since this Intel® wireless adapter supports different versions of this operating system. Also, we would like to know your system model and the drivers you have tested so far.

Please run the Intel® System Support Utility and attach the report to this thread.

1.Download the Intel® System Support Utility and save the application to your system.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-?product=91600

2.Open the application and click Scan to see system and device information. The Intel® System Support Utility defaults to the Summary View on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says summary to change to Detailed View.

3.To save your scan, click Next and click Save. You can save the file to any accessible location on your computer.

Hello Ramak,

Thank you for your reply.

Because you have installed different versions of the wireless driver, you can try performing a Clean Installation of Wireless Drivers in case of corrupted driver/settings. Because you have a laptop, try the driver provided by your system manufacturer first.

You can perform these steps:
