I my Dad asked me to update his notebook it is a Acer Aspire 5710 with a Intel T5500 . Ark.intel.com said the T5500 has PBGA479, PPGA478 Sockets Support , so i bought a T7700 wich has also a PBGA479, PPGA478 Sockets Support . But today everything arrived but the CPU wont fit in the Socket . The Problem is now i bought ram with 800MHz and i need a CPU that is compatible with the T5500 Socket . So what is the fastest CPU with a FSB of 800MHz and compatible with the T5500.

MFG Chris , and sry for my bad English it is not my native Language.

What you need to do is contact Acer and ask them what processors are compatible with THEIR BIOS. Then, you can select from those processors.

Now, in my opinion, you should spend your time and money on a new/newer laptop. Even if you do upgrade the Acer, none of it is supported in today's world.

This is especially true if your goal is Windows 10.

No, Windows 7 is fine. Just find out which processors are supported by the Acer bios for your laptop.
