Refresh early and save power ?

Server power consumption is a 'hot' topic these day, the latest generation Xeon processors are enabling OEMs to build high performance, low power servers. There is also an increased focus on data centre energy consumption, this is primarily being driven by the need for higher density data centres and an increasing cost of power.

Server power consumption is rapidly becoming a checklist item for new server purchases - the question I would pose is whether the availability of low power servers and the potential savings that can be made in energy costs by using these servers are enough to justify early replacement of existing older generation legacy infrastructure, i.e. will this accelerate your server refresh plans ??
