Intel driver and support assistant 3.5.0.3 fails to install

    m787

      Hello, I have a problem:

During the installation of the new version 3.5.0.3, it appears a windows that asks to find a msi file for the installation. Initially, the file in the browse field mention to the 3.2.0.9 version... but I can't find it in the Program Cache!

I also tried to give him the msi file for the 3.5.0.3, but it says that it's not a valid installation package... When I cancel, it says that it was unable to uninstall the older version.

      Here's the log:

Also, I tried to uninstall DSA, but, when I went in the conrol panel and tried, it sayd that it was already uninstalled, and now it's not even mentioned in the program list, though I can see that it's executing in the task manager, and every time I strat the computer it says me that there are 2 new drivers to install. But on the browser page it says that I need to update DSA.

How can I install the new version and stop having this issues?

      Thank you

Hello, m787. Thank you very much for sharing your issue with the Intel Communities Team. I will be more than glad to assist you.

In order for me to assist you better, please provide me with the .txt file that the System Support Utility will generate. To attach a file, you must click the “Attach” option on the bottom right-hand corner of the response box.

Furthermore, please let me know which is the Web Browser you have used. In addition, which is the version of Intel® Driver & Support Assistant you have currently installed? Additionally, what is the name of the file that the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant shows is missing? Also, I will need to have the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant logs folder, in order to get this folder, please follow these steps:

          • Open-File Explorer from the taskbar.
          • Select View > Options > Change folder and search options.
          • Select the View tab and, in Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and OK.
          • Attach folder found at C:\ProgramData\Intel\DSA.

Thank you for the response. Okay, I'll provide all the things you asked for.

-I attached the .txt with the system info

-The web browser I use/used is Chrome

-The version is actually installed is the 3.3.1.3. I checked this thanks to the task manager, since it's still executing also when it seems uninstalled (DSAService (32bit) in the task manager).

-The file (that is automatically inserted in the Browse field during the installation that seems missing) is: C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{0C9A6167-6560-4085-9C35-EDB1AE105328}v3.2.0.9\

After I can't provide this file, it says that the older version cannot be removed.

-I wasn't able to attach the normal folder, so I terminated the dsa programs in the task manager and I compressed the folder in a .rar archive.

Also, I wanted you to know, that some days ago, I tried the start the update install without the log files. I moved them into a folder on the desktop after I terminated the activities (DSA and Tray). When the installation failed again, I moved the old logs again in the DSA folder. I don't know if this could make some trouble, I'm sorry if it's so...

Thank you, hope that this helps in finding the problem also for the other users with the same issue.

Hello, thank you for your help.

The Uninstaller worked like a charm, there's no more DSA actions in the task manager, and neither the DSA file in ProgramData.

Unfortunately the new installation gives me the same problem as before, and searches for the 3.2.0.9 msi file...

Could this be because I downloaded again the 3.5.0.3 instead of the 3.5.0.4? The page you sent me said that the latest was the 3.5.0.3

What could we try now? Is there a way to install the drivers manually in the meantime?

                  Thank you.

The problem I have is exactly the same I had before, it searches for a msi file at C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{0C9A6167-6560-4085-9C35-EDB1AE105328}v3.2.0.9\

This is the log at the end of the failed installation:

Hello, m787. Thank you for your patience.

Please test the newest Intel® Driver & Support Assistant Uninstaller Version: 1.0.0.2 (Latest) here:https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28149/Intel-Driver-Support-Assistant-Uninstaller

Then test installing the latest version of Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (DSA):  https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24345/Intel-Driver-Support-Assistant

If you still encounter issues after following the above instructions, you have two options moving forward:

                          1. Uninstall Intel® DSA and install the drivers from ASUS (or the system manufacturer) since their drivers are validated for your system. For BIOS or firmware updates, we recommend to contact the manufacturer directly for their recommendations and support.

Here is the link to the Driver & Tools for the VivoBook Pro N752VX: https://www.asus.com/Laptops/VivoBook-Pro-N752VX/HelpDesk_Download/

                          2. Continue troubleshooting with us by providing us the print screens of any errors and the folder with the DSA log files for our developers.

I'm sorry, but I always have the same problem with the 3.2.0.9 file...

Should I wait for the new DSA version? You mentioned the 3.5.0.4 but on the site the latest is always the 3.5.0.3

I don't know, actually I don't have any problem with my pc and drivers (I had once but i resolved thanks to an update through DSA when it was working)

The asus drivers are pretty old.

Could I have any issues in the future or I can just keep going how I am now?

Thank you for all your help.

                              Hello, m787

As previously mentioned, we can continue investigating this issue if you share with us more screenshots of the error you have and the DSAUninstaller.log file in the case you want to continue troubleshooting.

You can wait for a new version of Intel® Driver & Support Assistant but please keep in mind that the Intel® DSA is a tool offered as-is and the best drivers are provided by your Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

In the case you have any issues, you can download the latest generic Intel drivers at downloadcenter.intel.com.
