Being sure HD Graphics Control Panel video controls will be available on a new laptop

Hello All.

HD Graphics Control Panel is essential to me as, on its video section, it lets me change red, green, blue, cyan, magenta and yellow independently from one another and in real time during video playback. That is something no media player I know of can do (normally it's only "hue" and that's it, so while you correct one color you destroy the others). With that flexibility, I can correct nearly every lousy print transfer that I find on BD. It also lets me save video profiles for each movie that I think it needs correction (up to 50 profiles on Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000, hope one day there will be room for more!). So here is the issue. I want to buy a new laptop, preferably with off board graphics coming along, but I want to be sure that HD Graphics Control Panel will be there for me whenever I need video playback color correction. So I want it to be there, and I do not want the system, or the off board graphics card, to shut it off. That is something real hard to be sure of when buying online.

So I have 3 big doubts here:

1) If I discover the chipset of the laptop processor, can I be sure it will come (or not) with HD Graphics Control Panel?

2) Can I expect that newer versions of HD Graphics Control Panel will also have independent red/green/blue/cyan/magenta/yellow controls (like Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 or better)?

3) Can I expect that a newer version of HD Graphics Control Panel will be backwards compatible with .igp profile files saved with an older Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000?

Thanks!

Hello dtnbno

I see that you are having concerns about the Intel® HD graphics control panel, allow me to help you investigate the case.

Looking into your questions let me share with you the following information:

  1. If I discover the chipset of the laptop processor, can I be sure it will come (or not) with HD Graphics Control Panel?

Most of the Intel® processors have a integrated GPU, in order to confirm that the processor that you are interested in has or not an integrated GPU you can refer to the following https://ark.intel.com/ https://ark.intel.com/ and on the search bar type the model that you have in mind to get the processor specifications, scroll down the processor graphics to find the Intel® HD graphics that the unit have if it is present.

2. Can I expect that newer versions of HD Graphics Control Panel will also have independent red/green/blue/cyan/magenta/yellow controls (like Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 or better)?

3. Can I expect that a newer version of HD Graphics Control Panel will be backward compatible with .igp profile files saved with an older Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000?

For these two questions allow me to share with you that Intel® has been implementing into the graphics drivers version to optimize the performance with the minimal costumer's effort, therefore, since Intel® HD graphics 4000 there could have been changes on customer's user interface, so you might find change on the Intel® HD graphics control panel. On the other hand, if you have a specific Intel® processor on mind I would be more than happy to help you investigating the unit.

Hops this help.

Regards,

Leonardo C.

for the all questions , answers are here

1. all hd graphics control panel will be added in control panel as a name ""intel control panel"", only after updating from microsoft basic driver to intel hd graphics driver.

2. all the colour s can modify by the user , moreover hd graphics 4000 is old , because its supported only upto third generations , some celeron and Pentium processors, I recommend you to buy latest processors atelast 8th gen or 7th gen processors .

3. I am using intel hd graphics 620 added in i5 7200U processor , so I could not able to say exactly created profile in 4000 is working in another graphics profile

all the highend graphics will be integrated in the processors , for hdr streaming , better to buy intel UHD graphics 630 or better graphics added in 8th gen processors.

the following processors supports hd graphics 4000

I see that you are having concerns about the Intel® HD graphics control panel, allow me to help you investigate the case.

Thank you all!

I've got all the information I needed. As there are many details here (very nice!), I will sure have a lot to learn and research. Some additional doubts might come up later, but then I guess it would be OK to open a new thread in that case, right?.

If there is something I do miss, and I do not mean here, but in general, is images from HD Graphics Control Panel versions, and perhaps even an instructions manual. Even if I go to google images and type "HD Graphics Control Panel"+"video"+"cyan" (just an example), I get only a few images from that video section, and regarding only a few versions of the Control Panel. If there were a place somewhere in which one would be able to get a manual of Control Panel versions "XX", "X1", "X2" etc. and also get images from all their sections, it would be very good. In my case, for instance, I would probably see in no time whether newer versions of HD/UHD CP still have independent controls for red, green, blue, cyan, magenta and yellow on the video section or not.

I do suppose many won't even know that HD Graphics Control Panel possibilities like the ones in discussion here exist. I spent years with them waiting for me on my own machine and I have only discovered them when my laptop had more than 2 years, and it did happened by accident! Only then I could see CP offers unmatchable flexibility regarding color fixing of movies. After that, not having HD Graphics Control Panel was not an option for me. By using it, I could make horrible BD and DVD transfers look right. So if you get a bad home video print transfer with wrong reds, right blues, wrong greens, right cyans and so on, you can make it look right, and even save your settings as a preset. FANTASTIC!!!

THANKS AGAIN!
