Preventing Windows from updating automatically and breaking RealSense cameras

    MartyG

      Hi everyone,

There have been a couple of reports of the new 1803 'April 2018 Update' version of Windows stopping RealSense cameras from working.  Rolling back to a previous version of Windows provides only a temporary fix until Windows automatically re-installs the new Windows version and breaks the camera functionality again.  This problem of rollbacks being overwritten has also occurred in the past with previous versions of Windows 10.

Discussing the problem with another person who does Intel support work, the following suggestion was given to me:

"In order to temporary prevent Windows update you may advise to download Microsoft "Show Hide" troubleshooter.  Using this utility it is very easy to prevent any unwanted update, while keeping any other updates going on":
