Hello iqbalmuttaqien,

Thanks for posting in our communities. We understand that you're getting an error when trying to enable Intel® Optane™ memory secondary drive acceleration.

There are some https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000027987/memory-and-storage.html requirements to be met for secondary drive acceleration. Please confirm the following and share your findings with us:

- Secondary drive type: Press Windows logo + X > Disk Management > Right click on secondary drive and select Properties > Move to Volumes tab to find the drive type. Drives that are Type 'Dynamic' aren't supported. Drive must be in Type 'Basic'.

- Intel® RST Pre-OS UEFI Driver is on version 16.0.2.3402 or later. This is found on BIOS (not in the operating system).

If you confirm the system meets the requirements, please provide us with the following files:

- Intel® System Support Utility report.

1.https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-?product=91600 Download the latest Intel® SSU.

2. Select to include "everything."

3. Name and save the report.

- Intel Optane Memory logs located at C:\Users\[your_user_name]\Intel\Logs

Best regards,

Hello iqbalmuttaqien,

Thanks for the update.

The Intel® RST Pre-OS UEFI driver is updated via BIOS and its provided by the motherboard or system manufacturer, please wait for MSI* to release a new BIOS with the latest RST Pre-OS driver.

Best regards,

Hi iqbalmuttaqien,

I understand you are having issues setting up the Intel® Optane™ Memory.

From your description and the information in the thread, I see that you have not been able at all to setup the module with your secondary drive, right?

I know you were already asked for this information, but could you please run again the Intel® Software Support Utility (SSU) and get the log files from the following location: C:\Users\[your_user_name]\Intel\Logs

I just want to have the current information from your system, as the ones you provided before may not be accurate at this moment.

Additionally, could you please take a screenshot of the Disk Management window? In order to open Disk Management, press the Windows* key + x and then select the Disk Management option from the menu that will appear.

Once in Disk Management, please do the following for each drive and take a screenshot of the information too:

  1. In Disk Management, right click on the Disk # and select Properties.
  2. Go to the Volumes tab. Please take a screenshot of this information.

I'll be waiting for your response.

Have a nice day.

Regards,

Hi iqbalmuttaqien,

Thank you for the information.

I can see that your secondary drive has partitions. This configuration is not supported when trying to accelerate secondary drives. The secondary drive should have one single partition and no OS installed in it. Additionally, is there any reason why they are formatted as exFAT?

On the other hand, the unallocated space is not required in the secondary drive, but it's recommendable and it should be located at the end of the drive, not at the beginning. However, this unallocated space must be included in the primary drive as well, even though the accelerated drive is the secondary unit.

Regarding to the Intel® Optane™ logs, is there any file named as OptaneMemoryUI.log in the directory C:\Users\[your_user_name]\Intel\Logs?

Regards,

Hi iqbalmuttaqien,

Yes, the drive should be formatted as NTFS. I recommend you to low level format the drive following the information from this article: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000006198/memory-and-storage.html Run a Low-Level Format on Intel® Solid State Drives . Running a low level format has solved secondary drive acceleration issues in previous cases so you may find it useful too.

There are other requirements that you can check in the following article for secondary drive acceleration: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000027987/memory-and-storage.html Secondary/Data SATA Drive Acceleration with Intel® Optane™ Memory

It may be possible as well that the Intel® Optane™ Memory has to be cleaned. You can clean the module following these steps:

  1. Open the Command Prompt as Administrator.
  2. Run the command diskpart.
  3. Run the command list disk. Please take note of the ID associated to the Intel® Optane™ Memory. If possible please take a screenshot of this output too as it shows useful data.
  4. Run the command select disk . Make sure to use the ID from previous step.
  5. Run the command clean all. This will start the cleaning process on the Intel® Optane™ Memory. The process will delete all data so make sure you are selecting the correct unit.

After doing this and making sure your BIOS is configured properly, try again to enable the module. Make sure the OS reports the system as UEFI.

If you still have issues, please take a screenshot of the error message.

Regarding to the OptaneMemoryUI.log, that log file is better when trying to troubleshoot issues with the application, so if you still get another error code or the same one, please share this log file.

I'll be waiting for your response.

Have a nice day.
