    upgrading to i7 processor

I have a HP A6120N, Intel 2 Core CPU, 34 bit, 4 gig memory maxed out.  I was informed by HP that I could upgrade to the new i7 processor.  I wanted to find out if there was a certain type or model number i7 processor that I have to put in my computer

      thanks for the help

As far as i am aware the core 2 sockets and i7 sockets are different so you wouldn't be able to just swap the CPU.

But if HP say so and it is their system maybe you can, but you are best discussing the options with them. Still personally i doubt you can, you would need a new motherboard
