    Nuc Skull Canyon is overheating and shutting down.

      Up until a couple of days my Skull Canyon was working perfectly fine.

       

      But the last few days It has been shutting down, and refusing to come back up -unless I wait a while.

      I think it is overheating, because it is pretty hot to the touch. Hotter than I had noticed, before.

      Help!

          Hello, Gavinaldi. Thank you very much for sharing your issue with the Intel Communities Team. I will be more than glad to assist you.

          First, I would like to know if when the NUC is on you are able to feel the fan working? Also, please check if there is something that obstructs the airflow.
          Please restore your BIOS settings back to default. While your NUC boots press F2 to access the UEFI BIOS then press F9 and F10 to save the changes. Furthermore, I can see that your BIOS is outdated (0042). Please download the 0053 BIOS version by clicking here and, in order to complete the installation, please follow the steps provided in this guide. Additionally, the RAM frequency that this NUC supports is 2133MHz and, I can see that you are using two modules of 2400MHz. Thi can be causing this issue as well. Please try to test your unit using a 2133MHz module and share with us the results.
          I would like to know as well, what process is running when the NUC presents this issue?

            Below please note my response to your comments.

            So, I took the base plate off -and I could see that the fan is indeed inaudibly spinning. Everything in there is pretty hot to the touch. The only things that's not that hot is the frame around the fan.

            Furthermore, my computer has been off for hours, I just turned it on to flash the BIOS per your suggestion, and it’s already really hot. And it shutdown in my face, while I was typing this.

             

             

            Also, please check if there is something that obstructs the airflow.

            The airflow remains same as it’s always been.

            I never changed it from default, but at your suggestion, I have followed the steps.

            I don’t have access to additional RAM sticks. When I purchased them they were listed in the NUC Skull Canyon Compatibility list.

                So basically, I lost my money?

                 

                I paid my monies. I took my chances and I lost.

                That's what Intel is about?

                 

                No one is getting in touch with me, and nothing is being done to resolve this.

                It's hard not to be irate about the situation.

                I didn't abuse or misuse the hardware, and it just stopped working, and now I've been left to my own devices to figure it out?
