UHD Graphics 620 Driver Update Issues

I have an issue with the UHD 620 graphics card. At first the card/drivers when I tried to connect to a secondary display. I had to disable and then reinable it. All of my video playback has been horrible on this machine (Lenovo Yoga 920). I'm SURE it is a driver issue. I tried to download all the drivers from the Intel site for the UHD 620 graphics card. Windows each time would override the installation saying: "You have the most up-to-date drivers for your graphics card" and cancel out of the installation. I so regret buying this machine with this poorly designed graphics card. Is there anyway around pushing the latest driver installation through to bypass the Windows 10 message????? Attached is my machine diagnostics report.

Hello mjeff321

Thank you for joining the community.

For the manual installation of the driver follow these steps:
  1. Download the graphics driver ZIP file: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27650/a08/win64_15.65.5.4982.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27650/a08/win64_15.65.5.4982.zip
  2. Unzip the file to a designated location or folder.
  3. Right-click Windows Start icon and open Device Manager.
  4. Click "Yes" when prompted for permission from User Account Control.
  5. Expand the Display adapters section.
  6. Right-click the Intel® graphics entry and select Update Driver Software.
  7. Click "Browse my computer for driver software".
  8. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
  9. Click "Have Disk".
  10. Click "Browse".
  11. Access the designated location or folder, and access a folder called "Graphics".
  12. Select the file called "igdlh64" or "igdlh".
  13. Click Open, then click OK, and finally click "Next". Drivers are now being installed.
  14. Reboot your computer.
  15. And let me know if you have any issues with the installation.

The graphics driver provided is the latest on Intel® download center for Intel® UHD Graphics 620 controller, bear in mind that this version is the generic version for the controller, is recommended to use the drivers built for your system by the manufacturer in your case Lenovo™.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Leonardo C.

I have done this already. PLEASE re-read my post! Windows 10 stops me at your step 13 when I try to do the installation with the message: "Windows has determined that you already have the best up-to-date drivers for your machine". It then cancels out of the installation and DOES NOT allow the latest driver build that I've downloaded from the Intel site to be install on my machine.

  1. On the keyboard, press WinLogo key + R, then type in devmgmt.msc
  2. Expand the Display Adapters section.
  3. Find the Intel® Graphics Driver. The driver can also be called the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver (Intel® GMA Driver).
  4. Right-click the Intel Graphics Driver and select Uninstall.
  5. Select the checkbox "Delete" the driver software for this device.
  6. Reboot the computer after the uninstall process has finished.

Once the drivers are uninstalled you should be able to try the steps previously provided to install de drivers

I was able to get the new drivers installed on my machine. However; I still have the same issues as before with grainy video rendering and video loads starting over if I leave and come back to the window (YouTube).

Hello BigBossGTX1070

Thank you for joining the community.

I see that you are having issues to complete a driver update, allow me to help you with the inquiries.

I recommend trying a clean installation on the graphics driver on your system.

First, you will have download the Intel® UHD Graphics 630 driver version on the following link https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27892/a08/win64_24.20.100.6194.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27892/a08/win64_24.20.100.6194.zip (bear in mind that this is the generic driver for your Intel® UHD Graphics 630), once the driver is downloaded please make sure that the unit is not connected to internet during the uninstall/install driver to avoid any automatic update, and follow these steps to uninstall the graphics drivers:

  5. Select the checkbox Delete the driver software for this device.
  6. Reboot the computer after the uninstall process has finished.

Once the reboot is completed, please follow these steps in order to update the graphics driver:
  1. Use the .zip file downloaded previously.
  2. Unzip the file to a designated location or folder.
  3. Right-click on the Windows Start icon and open Device Manager.
  15. And let me know if you have any issues during the installation.

You could also try the VGA drivers provided by the motherboard manufacturer (https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z370%20Pro4/index.asp# Download https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z370%20Pro4/index.asp# Download) on the system.

Hello BigBossGTX1070

Thank you for your response.

  • For testing purposes could you try to boot the system without the external GPU to complete the graphics driver update? Please let me know the output.
  • I will also want to verify with you if you tried these Microsoft steps to fix the error code 31 on the device manager.
    • Reinstall the device driver using the Hardware Update wizard

  1. From Start, search for device manager and select Device Manager from the results.
  2. Right-click the device in the list.
  3. On the menu that appears, choose Update Driver to start the Hardware Update wizard.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Hello, I understand this is late, but I have an issue I encountered. I followed every step until in step 12, you said to select the file called "igdlh64" or "igdlh." I don't see either of those files, and the screenshot below is what I see. screenshot.PNG
