USB 3.0 OTG cable for the Intel® Aero Platform now available on click.intel.com.
For those of you who need to use USB 3.0 peripherals with the Aero platform, we know you’ve been having trouble finding the right cable to use. USB peripherals are typically equipped with Type A Plug connectors while the Aero Compute Board implements the USB 3.0 OTG (Micro-B) receptacle.
When connecting peripherals to the Aero Compute Board, you must use a USB 3.0 compliant adapter cable that converts the peripheral’s Type A Plug to the Micro-A Plug needed by the Aero Compute Board. The connector terminology is tricky. But in the end, there are very few cables like this in the market and the ones that exist are designed for a specific use which is not compatible with the USB 3.0 OTG specification that the Aero Compute Board has implemented.
The adapter cable which is now available for purchase on CLICK allows you to connect a single USB 3.0 (or slower) devices. If you need to connect more than one device, you will need to use the cable to connect a USB 3.0 compliant hub. However, the hub must be self-powered to support itself as well as all of the downstream USB devices.
