Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 new drivers problem

So the problem started after the newest update on my intel video graphics Version: 15.40.37.4835 (Latest) on laptop lenovo y50. The image in games became laggy choppy, monitor sometimes flickers, black bars all over the screen. I could not find any solution to this but installing older drivers, but like drivers from 2015. Is there any other way to fix this?

I understand that after the installation of the latest Intel® HD Graphics drivers (4835) you start having some issues with your https://www3.lenovo.com/lk/en/laptops/lenovo/lenovo-y-series/Y50/p/88LG80Y0378 Lenovo™ system. I will be more than glad to assist you with this problem you are facing.

In this case, In order to help you better, I would like to gather more information about the configuration you have on the computer. I have the same problem with my Dell Latitude E6440 also, my cpu is i7-4702MQ with HD 4600 core display adapter. when I rolled back my display driver to 4531 from dell.com, everything's OK, but the windows 10 will automatically upgrade my display driver to 4835 when I check updates

Yes the problem is these stupid auto updates. I can pause them for one month, but then have to reinstall drivers again. I have a suspicion there is something to do with directX, but let's wait for Intel to fix it

more tests as follows, when I connected one external LCD via HDMI, and then set the external LCD as primary display screen, the choppy flash effect disappeared when ran full screen games.

Then kept this configuration (external LCD as primary) , reboot the system, that flash effect would appear again in external LCD screen, switched the primary display again without a rebooting, (internal LCD as primary), internal LCD will not have that effect in full screen games

Thus, the choppy flash effect will only appear in the primary screen which is set when the system is rebooting, and the other screen will not be affected even if you change it to primary display before rebooting the system again

hope this information is useful to intel to resolve this problem, thanks!

It seems we have exactly the same issue. I thought it is something to do with HDMI at first, but I tried multiple cables, and the screen kept flashing. I'm glad I'm not the only one who have this problem, and hope Intel will look into this.

Hello, everyone!

Falcons_NC: Thank you very much for the information provided. In respect of your Lenovo™ system specifications and the situation you are facing, the best drivers for your system are the 4279 version provided by your system manufacturer. These drivers have been tested and specially set for your machine. On the other hand, the Intel® drivers 4835 are generic drivers and some feature might or might not be available for your system and some errors may be seen.

Season, this applies to your system as well, I would highly recommend you to download the http://www.dell.com/support/home/cr/en/crbsdt1/product-support/product/latitude-e6440-laptop/drivers latest graphics drivers provided by DELL™.

It seems that is not possible to stop the https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_update/how-to-disable-windows-updates-in-windows-10/c4c82c8c-c5eb-462b-ad56-bc27e1a6aa02?auth=1 Windows® 10 to automatically update. I just found this guide to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3073930/how-to-temporarily-prevent-a-driver-update-from-reinstalling-in-window prevent a driver to be updated. I hope this helps.

Hi Antony, thanks for you response. I've tried the version provided by Dell, its version is 4835 also, and tried the method you mentioned to prevent driver to be updated, but it seems not working alright in my 1709 version of windows 10.

Falcons_NC I noticed that the display driver in my Lenovo X1 Carbon is 4836, maybe you can find some new customized version from Lenovo

Thank you very much for the response, I guess I will stick with the older drivers which seem to work just fine.
