Install the MSI chipset INF for your motherboard.
I just tried intalling INF (v10.1.1.38).zip It downgraded my drivers and required a restart.
I restarted and now the pci express root port has vanished from the device manager.
The HP support manager then had a update that I installed.
There is now an Intel (R) 200 series chipset family thermal subsystem - A2B1
When I click on properties in says "No drivers are installed for this device."
If i go to update driver it installs the kabylake pci express root port and has a driver problem.
Do I want to leave it with no driver installed??
I am confused - what is the complete model number of your system/motherboard?
Are you MSI or HP?
It's an Omen Desktop Pc 880-p1xx
serial number is 5cc7521634
product number is 2tb60av
I meant to say HP support center in the original question and intel driver and support assistant
The Intel Chipset Software (a.k.a. INF Update) package does not actually install any device drivers. Instead, it installs INF files that configure the device driver(s) that will support the device. In many cases, you will see that there appears to be no device driver directly installed for the device. Do not worry about this; the device is being handled properly.
I am presuming that version 10.1.1.38 is the latest available from the HP support site? There is actually a newer version, 10.1.1.42 (available here: Download Intel® Chipset Device Software (INF Update Utility)), that you could try if you desired. I still recommend using the version that HP has actually validated on their system designs, however.
