Intel Optane only as SSD instead of Memory running on ASUS B250H motherboard

    MiguelHT

Hello out there, I am trying to setup my new brand 32 GB intel Optane on my ASUS B250H Gaming motherboard running windows 10 pro. I already check the intel recommendations. Reads all the manuals. Update my board BIOS includding the Optane and follow all ASUS recommendations. When I try to install the Setup Optane memory I get a message that says:

Your BIOS does not support Intel Optane Memory or your BIOS mode is in Legacy Mode.

How do I setup my BIOS in not Legacy Mode, UEFII mode?. Of course I also check setup config trying to set everything up to UEFFI

I only see the Optane as SSD. The device is on the proper interface of course. Need Help

          Hello MiguelHT,

Thank you for your interest in the Intel® Optane™ Memory.

I understand that your motherboard is not recognizing the Optane™ Memory as an acceleration device.

You mention that the reason behind this is that you haven’t been able to enable the UEFI mode of your motherboard. Since we don’t have access to that specific device, this kind of issues should be handled by the motherboard’s manufacturer, in this case ASUS* (https://www.asus.com/us/support/), although, I may be able to provide some insight.

I checked the motherboard’s user manual (http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/STRIX_B250H_GAMING/E12476_STRIX_B250H_GAMING_UM_WEB.pdf?_ga=2.137110649.854317169.1517586535-840107974.1516736000) and could recognize certain steps that must be followed to setup system acceleration with Optane™.

          1. Install the Intel® Optane™ Memory M.2 module in M.2_2 Socket 3
          2. Enter the UEFI BIOS Utility – Advanced Mode
            1. Select the Advanced tab
              1. Choose the PCH Storage Configuration option
              2. For SATA Mode Selection choose “Intel RST Premium With Intel Optane System Acceleration (RAID)”
              3. For M2_2 PCIE Storage RAID Support choose “Enabled”
            2. Select the Boot tab
              1. Choose the CSM(Compatibility Support Module)
              2. For Launch CSM choose “Disabled” (you can leave CSM Enabled, but make sure the UEFI is selected for Storage Devices.)
            3. Save the Changes & Exit

One of your comments is that you followed all ASUS recommendations, could you please tell me what kind of recommendations are you referring to? Were those recommendations provided by the corresponding technical support team?

If you have any update or question, don't hesitate to contact us.

          Regards,
          Andres V.
