FYI, I have seen lots of reports like that, where attempting to install RST drivers newer than, say, 11.x.x.x on a system with an older chipset (mine is X58 / ICH10R).

For me, an install of 14.8.16.1063 gave this same error (and also crashed my system - see ) as did an install of 13.6.0.1002 - the level I am currently running at.

In both cases, after the install, if I went into Device Manager, expand "Storage Controllers", find an entry with Intel and RAID (the wording seems to vary with release and/or chipset), double click that, click on the Driver Tab, then the Driver Details button, I found iaStorA.sys (for older release iaStor.sys) to be at the correct level.

I then went back and ran SetupRTS.exe with the -Nodrv option, and that completed successfully, and installed the user interface and tray tool.
