Random dots all over the screen

    Kautsar

Hello all. I was looking for help regarding a problem with my laptop.

I recently updated my laptop to latest build of Windows 10. But, after the update, now there are random "snow" dots (sort 0f flickering) appearing across the screen.

      http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a418/kautsar_21/white%20dots%20problem%203_zpsari06plu.png

Those random dots always appeared each time I restart my laptop. If I shut down my laptop, then turn it on, the dots won't appear.
If I restart again, dots will apear again.
I tried booting my laptop to Safe Mode, and the dots disappear during the Safe Mode.

I assume this has to do with my Intel(R) HD Graphics. I have two Display Adapters on my laptop, Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M.
Disabling Intel(R) HD Graphics Device,Uninstall the driver, and/or switching the driver with Microsoft Basic Display Adapter will remove the random dots,  but the problem returns when I restart the laptop.

Here's the spec of My laptop:
      ASUS GL502VT
Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M as Display Adapter

      Thank you

          Hello Kautsar,

I understand you are having problems with the system after updating the Windows 10 as it shows small white dots on the screen, I apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing.

Regarding this, I would actually need more information about the system in order to find the best answer or fix for the problem. To better assist you with your request, Please follow these steps:

          2. In the Run box please type dxdiag and hit Enter.
          3. Click on Save All Information (save it in your desktop).
          4. Attach to this thread the report.

To attach a file, you must click "Use advanced editor" in the top right and then click the “Attach” option on the bottom right hand the response box.

I hope to hear from you soon.

          Regards,

              Hello Kautsar,

              Thank you for your response,

I see that the driver that you currently have is not the latest one. I actually checked under the manufacturer of the computer but the driver that they have is older than the one you currently have. Since this is the case I would like to try to update the driver to the latest version we have. Here is the link:

              https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27412/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-60-?product=88967

Also, please follow these steps to install the driver:

              1. Unzip the file to a designated location or folder.
              2. Open Device Manager:

                • For Windows 8 and Windows 8.1: Press Windows + keys together
                •
                • For Windows 10: Right-click Windows Start icon
              3. Click Yes when prompted for permission from User Account Control.
              4. Expand the Display adapters section.
              5. Right-click the Intel® graphics entry and select Update Driver Software.
NoteThe graphics entry may be Microsoft Basic Display Adapter* if no Intel® Graphics Driver has been previously installed.
              6. Click Browse my computer for driver software.
              7. Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
              8. Click Have Disk.
              9. Click Browse and access the directory where the driver files are found.
              10. Access a folder called Graphics.
              11. Select the file called igdlh64 or igdlh.
              12. Click Open, then click OK, and finally click Next.  Drivers are now being installed.
              13. Restart your computer.
I hope you find this helpful.

I already tried the update. But after I restart my laptop, the problem still exist.

The confusing part is, if I turn on my laptop from start (after shutting down), the dots won't appear and the screen back to normal.
But, each time I restart, the dots will appear again.

                  Hello Kautsar,

                  Thank you for your response,

Up to this point there are just 2 steps that could be tried to see if it is a graphics issue or a Operating System problem. First, If possible, please re-install the Operating System. Upon doing this, once everything is re-installed the "snow dots" should disappear.

If you do not want to re-install the operating system then what you could try is to do a system restore to a previous working version. You can follow the steps here:

                      Hello Kautsar,

                      Thank you for your response,

Up to this point we can only conclude that the issue is a hardware issue and not software or driver-related. In this case I strongly recommend to get in contact with Asus for any possible hardware issue help. I apologize for any inconveniences.

So, I brought my laptop to service center, and got some replacement on the monitor and other parts (maybe motherboard)

Anyway, thank you for helping me with this issue.
