- No, the needed BIOS upgrade is not yet available for the WY NUCs. Intel committed to providing updates for all affected products by the end of the month. You should see this BIOS upgrade posted by then.
- You should go to the downloads page for the WY NUCs. Here is a link to this page: Downloads for Intel® NUC Kit D54250WYKH. You should be looking for a BIOS update with BIOS version 46 or higher.
- Microsoft has provided a built-in capability for checking the status. See this overview for more information: Bleeping Computer: How to Check and Update Windows Systems for the Meltdown and Spectre CPU Flaws.
- When you see a new BIOS Update appear in the downloads page for the WY NUCs, click on the BIOS Update title and you will see a page showing the related downloads available. Click on the one you want. The one ending in .EXE can be initiated from within Windows (running as Administrator) and thus is the simplest method to use. The overall process for BIOS upgrade is documented here: Intel NUC BIOS Update Instructions.
Hope this covers it,
Thank you for the excellent succinct reply.
As of today (2/10/18) the latest BIOS posted for the D54250YYKH is dated 3/10/17. Am I looking in the wrong place for the BIOS update, or is it somewhere else?
No, you are just impatient.
As of 2/10/18, the issue is still being [properly] addressed.
FYI, Intel had to recall the microcode updates due to instabilities. They have root-caused the issue and are creating updated microcode modules now. When these clear validation, they will be delivered to board and system manufacturers for integration into their products' BIOS. Intel will similarly be doing so for their board, kit and system-level products. Once they establish their schedule for doing so (it is obviously dependent upon when the microcodes clear validation), they will be published here:
