Xeon E3 1275 v5 and v6 Interoperability

Hi there,

Six months ago I upgraded one of our HP ProLiant ML10 servers by replacing the original Pentium with a Xeon E3 1275 v5 (the motherboard supports both processors)

I now want to upgrade another of our HP ProLiant ML10 servers, but noticed that the Xeon E3 1275 v5 is no longer available.

I would like to know if I could use a Xeon E3 1275 v6 instead. The specs are almost identical.

Any thoughts?

Kind regards

Stephen

I would add that you should also check with HP to ensure that the BIOS has support for the newer processor variants.
