Hi!
I'm working on my new Motherboard (Z270 Gaming M3) and overclocking my i7-6700k processor, running some bench tests. I happened to have had a full systems crash once and wondered what the root cause of that would be so that I may be sure to avoid it. I generally have Core Voltage set to 1.25V.

Hello DivinaUmbra,
Thank you for contacting Intel Support,
I understand that your unit is making your system crash after overclocking it, I apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing.
Regarding this problem, I need to mention that overclocking the unit without the appropriate tuning plan may result in the unit having the warranty voided.
" WARNING: Altering clock frequency and/or voltage may: (i) reduce system stability and useful life of the system and processor; (ii) cause the processor and other system components to fail; (iii) cause reductions in system performance; (iv) cause additional heat or other damage; and (v) affect system data integrity. Intel has not tested, and does not warranty, the operation of the processor beyond its specifications. Intel assumes no responsibility that the processor, including if used with altered clock frequencies and/or voltages, will be fit for any particular purpose."
If you are interested, this is the tuning protection plan so that you can overclock with no problem and if the processor were to fail you would be able to replace the unit:

Now, if you want information about how to properly overclock we have a few steps that can be followed. However, as mentioned, Intel® does not recommend to overclock:

I hope you find this information helpful.

David V
