My Dell Inspiron 5000 series no longer recognizes my Acer monitor. I used to be able to just plug it in and it would be recognized. I have updated drivers for the Acer and the graphics card.

What can I try now?

Did you update the graphics driver before or after that failure?

I just today tried updating driver again, and the problem still persists.

When I go to Control Panel - Displays - Change Display Settings - Detect, it tells me "Another display not detected"

If I turn the Acer Display off, and then on it tells me no signal.

Try drivers from this list https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/96551/Intel-HD-Graphics-620 Downloads for Intel® HD Graphics 620

Select OS from right pulldown menu. Hit "show more".

If you encounter an error message about validation, then install driver via "have disk method" as described at:

(ignore prolog about MS surface)

I phrased that poorly. I went to Acer and updated the drivers, and I went to Intel and updated the drivers.

T

hey told me the drivers, or software (Intel) was up to date.

You can try older drivers to check if it is a regression.

To check the hardware:

-use another cable

-connect your Acer monitor to another PC

-connect another monitor or TV to your DELL

I have an appointment that I need to go to, I'll find the correct cords and try the hardware test this evening.
