    NUC7i5BNH M2 SSD not recognized

    MarcoL

      Dear Support,

Last week I discovered that my NUC7i5BNH did not discover my Samsung 960 EVO M2 SSD when it was installed as the only SSD.

I was using the latest BIOS 060 and also tried BIOS 057.

The M2 settings in BIOS kept showing "Not populated".

Only after temporary installing a Sata SSD, the M2 SSD was showing up and was useable.

After this, I did remove the Sata SSD and the M2 SSD was still seen.

      Is this a bug?

      Kind Regards,

      Marco

            Hi Leonardo,

Yes, I tried BIOS 057 and 060 with default settings. After BIOS update, I loaded the default settings saved and reboot.

No change in the BIOS configuration.

            Regards,

            Marco

                Hello MarcoL

Thank you for your patience, I would like to share with you that I replicated the scenario with the NUC and default settings on bios 060, the Intel M.2 was recognized when it was installed as the only SSD.

If it is possible could you try the NUC with a different manufacture M.2?

Could you try the Samsung 960 EVO M.2 on a different system?

Please let me know the outcome
                Regards,
                Leonardo C.

                  Hi Leonardo,

I didn't use an Intel M.2 but the Samsung 960 EVO. Maybe that's the difference.

For you information and stated already in the first post, my Samsung 960 EVO M.2 is working now.

But it only started working after I also installed a SATA SSD.

So I don't need a fix since all is working for me. But if it's bug, it can possibly be solved for future customers who only use an M.2 SSD and do not have a SATA SSD.

                  Regards,

                  Marco
