You may connect amplified Speakers to Front Panel Audio Jack. see para. 1.10 Product Technical Spec.: https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/NUC7i5BN_NUC7i7BN_TechProdSpec.pdf
Leon is correct. The BIOS has the ability to output to external speakers plugged into the front panel Audio jack. With this capability in place, there is absolutely no need for an internal speaker - nor is there room for one considering the compact design of the NUC. Bottom line, you will never see an internal speaker added back in.
I know that the nuc's designed for multimadia usage.
the low power consumption (15W) and the compact designe make them ideal for small server
I use them as small servers at my lab working 24/7 all year
sins that thy are not connected to keyboard mouse or screen the speaker is very important to know what happens in restart (or start) or in high temp
I know that I can connect external speakers but this interfere with the impact design future
their is a place inside for a small speaker (for beeps only)
like i said it will be very nice for this in the next designs
