Hi. I started experiencing BSOD with APC_INDEX_MISMATCH of the offending driver igdkmd64.sys. I had posted on Microsoft's fourms but as it appears to be Intel driver related this seems like the appropriate place to post. Others experiencing same issue: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-performance-winpc/apcindexmismatch-igdkmd64sys/299b5adb-ff67-445a-8931-25fad19df8b1?auth=1 APC_INDEX_MISMATCH igdkmd64.sys - Microsoft Community and my posting https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/apcindexmismatch-error/27b02061-7f8d-4d84-aa78-715173e583e4 APC_INDEX_MISMATCH ERROR - Microsoft Community

I am getting reports of other users now experiencing the same issue on other systems.

Environment: Either Windows 10 1703 or 1709.

Also, when I attempt to run the SSU to gather the data you want as it is gathering the data toward the end of the tool running (based on progress bar) it will BSOD with an IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_EQUAL . I am able to repro this every time.

I was able to run the Intel SSU tool without having storage checked. If it is checked it BSOD each time. For storage I am using an Intel 600P NVMe SSD 512GB.

I don't see on this thread where I can attach the SSU txt file.

Hi NVGoldendog: Thank you very much for contacting the Intel® Graphics communities. We will do our best to try to fix this problem.

For this type of scenario, we recommend to install the graphics driver provided by the manufacturer of the board, please try driver 4691:

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/PRIME-Q270M-C-CSM/HelpDesk_Download/ https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/PRIME-Q270M-C-CSM/HelpDesk_Download/

Also, we can try a BIOS update to the latest version from 2017/12/06:

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/PRIME-Q270M-C-CSM/HelpDesk_Download/ https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/PRIME-Q270M-C-CSM/HelpDesk_Download/

Please provide all the information requested on the following link:

/message/319025 https://communities.intel.com/message/319025

To attach a file, you must click "Use Advanced Editor" in the top right corner of the response box, then the "attach" option will appear in the bottom right corner of the response box.

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Alberto R

Thank you. I have updated my BIOS to the latest build. I noticed when I DOWNGRADED the graphics drivers I get a warning showing . After downgrading the video and audio driver and rebooting, Windows now wants to download the updated driver. I'm a bit confused on why you are wanting me to roll back the driver when Windows wants to update it.

I have attached me SSU as well.

NVGoldendog: You are welcome. Thank you very much for providing that information.

The Intel graphics drivers are generic, the reason why we recommended to install that driver version is because is the one provided and validated by ASUS, it was customized by them to work specifically with your platform and we wanted to confirm if the issue gets fixed with that driver. After installing it, is the problem the same?

Also, please provide the DxDiag files requested on the previous link.

Any questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Thanks for getting back to me. Here is the DXDIAG.TXT file.

Windows wants to install Intel Display Driver 22.20.16.4836. Should I allow this or try and stop it? So far it has not BSOD but it is intermittent so I have to give it some time. I also noticed since I rolled back to the old driver that when the computer attempts to put the screens to sleep now the screen goes black but does not put the monitors into low power mode. Is this an issue with the old driver?

NVGoldendog: You are welcome. Thank you very much for letting us know that information. Yes, if it is working fine with the current driver then there is no need to install driver version 4836, but if the problem persists you can always try it, please let us know the results.

Any questions, please let me know.

I am now experiencing the same issue again. I checked Asus website and they have posted yesterday a new driver update, 23.20.16.4849. I have downloaded it and will continue trying with this new driver.

Hi. The problem still occurs. I have been able to get around the issue by setting the monitors to never turn off, but I really don't like wasting power to get around a driver bug. If I leave the monitors set to turn off after xx time, and it hits that time, when I go to wake up the screens (computer is not in sleep mode), that is when the BSOD occurs, almost every time.

Hi NVGoldendog: Thank you very much for providing those results. We are sorry to hear the issue persists.

There is another driver that we can try, it is version 4901:

Hi Alberto-

I downloaded the driver as you instructed and installed it. I let it run for a couple of hours with the screen's set to not go to sleep. It seemed to work fine. I then changed the Windows setting to put the screen's to sleep after xx minutes. It put the screens to sleep, I moved the mouse and BSOD appeared, same error, APC Index Mismatch.

NVGoldendog: I just wanted to let you know that we tried to replicate the issue in our lab but it was not replicated, we used 2 different platforms, the i7-7700K processor with HD 630 graphics, driver 4901 and the ASUS STRIX Z270F GAMING. We set the monitor to go to sleep after 2 and 5 minutes, the display goes to sleep and then we moved the mouse or press the keyboard and it wakes up without BSOD or any other error messages, we test it with both HDMI and Display port.

We also test the NUC7i3BNH that works with HD graphics 620, we installed the same driver 4901, repeat the procedure and the results were the same, no problem at all.

So, the problem could be related to hardware, please test the PC with the board outside the case and with just one memory stick on it to rule out that possibility.

Any questions, please let me know.

Alberto R
