White screen of the application while viewing h.265 video with QiuckSync

Dear All,

We are developing security video management system and viewing some IP camera that sends h.265 video stream. To decode it we use QuickSync. Recently faced the problem when our application is running on i5-4590 with HD4600 (20.19.15.4624 driver) window becomes full white and hangs once h.265 video is viewed. We suspect that problem might be somewhere in HD4600 or its driver as we do not have same behavior on i7-7700, HD630.

Please, let me know what additional information you need to help us solve the problem. Maybe we can do it on our software side.

Hello maximkabenin,

Thank you for joining the Intel® Community. I am sorry to hear you are having issues with this matter.

Have you tested different driver version? Perhaps version: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27267/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-40-?product=81496 Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.40]

Dear Amy,

Thank you for your reply.

We checked with few versions - 20.19.15.4624 and 20.19.15.4703. Problem persists on both of them. We will double check with https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27267/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-40-?product=81496 Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.40]

/thread/120754 maximkabenin thank you for following the suggestion.

I was double checking the hardware acceleration capacities that this processor offers and noticed that Haswell processors do not offer Hardware Decoder support for H.265 (HEVC), thus Intel® QuickSync is not applicable. So, you are observing (just white video) is the result of slow decoding performance due to the decoding being done via the CPU.
