Upgrading from the E7400

I'm going to build a new desktop and I was wondering what would be the most logical choice upgrade from the E7400 with out going crazy money wise?

i5 750 short from going i7 860, 920 or 930

I think they are out of the price range. The E7400 cost around $100 and it worked just fine. Isn't there an upgrade around that price anymore?
