intel wifi ac7265/7260 not display network 802.11n draft 2.0

    baudav

      Hi,

This day, it was impossible for me to connect to an open wifi. The network is simply not visible in the list of nearby wifi networks, not visible in scan wifi software

No problem to see others, no problem to connect to my usual networks.

The invisible network, was visible and is accessible from Android smartphones and tablets, or other PC. But not visible from 2 PC with intel card AC7265 and second AC7260.

PC are up to date with windows 7 update (64bits); drivers 19.10.9.2

The wifi router is Dlink DIR-635

          Hello baudav,

Thanks for posting in our community. We understand that you're experiencing problems to find an open WiFi network on two of your laptops.

Does that happen with every open WiFi network, or just this one? Also, do you remember if something changed on the systems the day the issue started (a system update, a new antivirus, etc.)?

For now, please to connect to that network by manually setting it on Windows 7*:

          - If you're using Windows* to manage WiFi profiles, please follow the first video under "Create a profile" on this article.
          - If Intel® PROSet/Wireless Wi-Fi Connection Utility is managing your profiles, please follow the instructions found here.

Depending of how much control you have over this network, you may also try setting a security key for it (such as WPA2) and check if the systems can detect it again. This is configured on the router settings.

Here's the router manual for your reference, wireless security information starts at page 60:

          - D-Link DIR-635* User Manual

            Hi,

this happen only with this wifi router, perhaps other, but I noticed it with this wifi, because I wanted to connect especially on this one, and to see with third tools the values of broadcast.

I never tested before this day with this laptop and this wifi router.

I do not have problem with my usual wifi.

it's not my wifi router, I'll do the test next time manually specifying the wifi profile. I do not think it will work, the system does not see the wifi. but the goal was to broadcast the wifi and connect, without storing it in a profile (like a wifi guest)

I do not use Proset, the drivers have been installed via the windows wizard (inf file, sys ...) driver 19.10.9.2 (02/10/2017)  Width AUTO; incompatible 40MHz disabled.

With WPA2 it's same. Laptop with intel card not see it; all smartphone can see it and connect.

Tested with 20MHz, N only.. Intel card can't see this wifi

              Hello baudav,

              Thanks for your reply.

If the issue is limited to one network, then the problem might be related with this router configuration. If you can contact the administrator, please check with them if there are access policies (MAC/IP filtering, whitelists, etc) or other limitations.

In addition to testing a manual network set, please review the adapter's recommended advanced settings for 802.11n.

              Best regards,
              Eugenio F.

It's a problem with intel card only, I have admin access to this wifi router.

no MAC filter, and MAC filter does not prevent wifi from being seen. SSID broadcast is enabled.. it's not a router PRO, function is very limited.

Apparently i am not the only one to have encountered this problem with an intel card and more wifi router. On the other hand the only solution posted on another forum is to change card for a model Broadcom (but the PCs of big mark does not authorize it)

Your cards are very used with intel core i5.

What could make the wifi not visible in the neighborhood with intel cards only? the SSID name is the default one: dlink

                  Hello baudav,

We can't think of many other reasons why the system is not finding the network. However, you could try proximity to the router. Not all devices have the same reception, different manufacturers use different antennas for the wireless adapters. Please try moving as close to the router as you can.

Besides manually setting the network as previously suggested, you could test removing the security from a different network (so that it is open), delete the profile from Windows 7* and verify if your system can detected it.

If the issue persists, please try a clean installation of the wireless driver, but including the Intel® PROSet/Wireless as instructed here.

                  Best regards,
                  Eugenio F.

the router is less than 1m (tested @10cm!); visible by all devices certified wifi, except this intel card 72xx.

New windows install and up to date, same result, wifi work but not for dlink router, stay not visible (not exist, can't connect)

Tested with old laptop centrino 6200N, it's work (without ProSet, only driver)

change channel, security.. do not solve the problem, the intel card 'supposed to be certified wi-fi' does not work with all wifi!

                      Hello baudav,

                      Thanks for your reply.

From the network information provided, it seems this is not an open network as it is using WPA2-PSK security.

So far, the issue is limited to only one connection. The systems using with Intel® Wireless Adapter 7260 and 7265 can find and connect to other networks without problems. However, if you believe this is a issue with the adapters, we recommend working with your system manufacturer. They might be able to confirm if there's a hardware limitation with those devices.

                      Best regards,
                      Eugenio F.
