2nd monitor not detecting (Intel HD Graphic 630)

Hello! I am having the same problem with the 2nd monitor and Windows 10. I've been using this PC for 11 months with two monitors and recently in the past week or two the 2nd monitor is not detected. I have a StarTech switch which I use for my work laptop docking station and through that both monitors are working. I also physically switched the cables and got the 2nd monitor to work as a 1st monitor using VGA. So it seems my display adapter no longer likes the DVI port.

--'Detect' says I don't have a 2nd monitor

--Update device driver tells me I have the latest driver

--Rollback device driver does not enable

Can you please help walk me through getting the proper device driver installed?

Hi Bette: Thank you very much for contacting the Intel® Graphics communities. We are sorry to hear the second monitor is now not being detected.

In regard to your inquiry about the driver, we recommend to install the graphics driver provided by the manufacturer of the board, in this case ASrock, look for VGA driver 4542:

https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/B250M-HDV/index.asp# Download https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/B250M-HDV/index.asp# Download

If the problem remains after that, then we can always try to install the latest driver version which is 4849:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27266/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-60-?product=98909 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27266/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-60-?product=98909

Just in case, on the link below you will find the instructions of how to install the driver manually:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005629/graphics-drivers.html

Based on the fact that the second monitor worked fine when you switched the cables it indicates that the problem could be related, as you mentioned, with the DVI cable or with the display adapter itself, since both monitors worked fine with the docking station as well.

Additionally, if any recent software/hardware changes were done, like a Windows update, the issue could be related to those changes as well.

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Alberto R

HI Alberto

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I have tried the first step of downloading the VGA driver 4542, and bumped up against this error message. Let me know if there is another preferred location for the driver download.

You are attempting to leave a secure area. This URL ' https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/B250M-HDV/index.asp# Download'. is not on Intel's approved white list of domains. If you believe this is a mistake please contact (mailto:Peterx.dulsky@intel.com Peterx.dulsky@intel.com).

Hi Alberto

I have tried both drivers VGA driver 4542 and 4849 am still experiencing the issue. It is intermittent (mostly no second monitor but a few times a week it works) which could mean that the hardware is having a failure. Unless you have any other ideas, I might research the warranty info on the device. Thank you for all of your time and patience.

Hi Bette: You are very welcome. Thank you very much for providing those results. Yes, in this case it seems to be a hardware failure and the warranty option on the device will be the next thing to do at this point.

Any questions, please let me know.
