"Intel Driver & Support Assistant"  -  who dropped the ball?

    TomSgee

Whoever is in charge of the transition from  Intel® Driver Update Utility to Intel Driver & Support Assistant really needs to find a new line of work.

      Wasn't there any testing done?

5 computers, different OS's Windows 7, Windows 10, etc , none of which was able to even go as far as detecting hardware.

After installing , using "check for new drivers" goes automatically back to the 'download'  page.  Another error "communication with service process failed" .

This happens in both IE and Chrome.

      Tried reboot, reinstall, etc.

      Useless.

I can almost guarantee you they outsourced the developer team and created this monstrosity.

Hello TomSgee.  I understand your frustration with trying to get the new IDSA working on your systems.  We have had users reporting the same issue and our developers have provided this solution to try in the case you are using a proxy.  If you are not using a proxy, we are still trying to identify the root cause and a solution.  Please try this and see if it works for you.

            If using a proxy

            • Explanation: Proxies do not work with our architecture
            • Solution: Go to Internet Properties to make an exception
            • If "Use automatic configuration script" is checked, turn off
            • If "Use a proxy server for your LAN" is checked
              • Check Bypass proxy server for local addresses
              • Click Advanced

Thank you for your feedback and patience while we continue to improve and debug this new application.

              no proxies involved.

I noticed this is the same copy/paste from other questions regarding this

              Intel Driver & Support Assistant.

              again

NO PROXY IS INVOLVED.  This is a direct connection.

TomSgee:  Please send me your log files so the developers can look into this issue further.  Log files can be located at C:\ProgramData\Intel\DSA and attached to this thread.

Also do you have an anti-virus software installed and if so, what?  We are tracking to see if there is a trend with this effecting scans or not.

                Thank you,

Intel and software just doesn't match:( Even their install wizards often do not work at all, not even to mention the drivers itself...

                    attached.

this was done with a fully updated Windows 7 654bit and Windows 10.

                    Same issues.

Chrome and IE were tested as default browsers.

When 'Check for updates' is selected in the bottom right "Intel Driver Assistant" it continuously goes back to the download page.  When I re-download it from that page, it tries to uninstall - because it's already installed.

It's unbelievable that after weeks (or months on version 3.0) this is still not fixed.

Multiple computers so it's not just me.

                    Here are the logs attached.

Hi TomSgee.  I wanted to check in with you to see if you have tried running the IDSA scan recently?  Our team had 2 new releases with fixes in December so I wanted to check if you were still having an issue being looped back to the main install page.  Please let me know if you are able to run the scan now or if you are still experiencing issues.

                      Thanks,

                          Dear Intel.

I am available for hire as a Q&A tester.

I can and will make sure your support applications work before giving the go-ahead for production release .

I am also available for hire as a manger who makes decisions on software releases, perhaps a Q&A Manager.  Please consider creating such

a position if one does not exist.

                          Please send PM if interested.

Intel, Please hire TomSgee so he can make the appropriate firings, shitcan this project and bring back the Intel Driver Update Utility (DUU) which wasn't browser-based, since driver updates have no business requiring a ******* browser. You might just save my NUC from the trash bin.
