    BIOS version 1J2 update error

    TasukuNakajima

Please tell me how to update joule's BIOS.

I have the intel joule 570x.The power of joule is running at 12V.

I tried updating the BIOS with reference to "BIOS Update Steps".

      https://software.intel.com/en-us/flashing-the-bios-on-joule

I downloaded joule-firmware-2017-06-26-1J2-public.zip for BIOS update in Windows8.1.

      Intel DnX driver is working.

      I failed when I executed flash.bat command.

          Hi Tasuku,

          Thanks for reaching out.

It seems that you have followed the correct steps to flash the BIOS (BIOS Update Steps). However, it is strange that you are getting these error messages. First, I would like to know a little bit more information, have you checked the “Checking your host Environment” section to remove any of the files mentioned there before continuing with the instructions? Did you flash any BIOS before or is this the first time? Which OS does the Joule have? Also, could you attach to your reply the file …\joule-firmware-2017-06-26-1J2-public\DNX\Flash.log?

Moreover, could you please try to flash the BIOS again, but in this case add the “-clear” parameter? The command would be: Flash.bat -clear Joule_C0-X64-Release-1J2-Public_DNX.bin.

          Regards,
          -Yermi A.

            Dear Yermi.

            Thank you for your reply.

I looked at your mail and checked a couple of things.

            >>have you checked the “Checking your host Environment” section to remove any of the files mentioned there before continuing with >>the instructions?

⇒ A. Yes, I have. I checked the files mentioned there before continuing with the instructions.

            >>Did you flash any BIOS before or is this the first time? Which OS does the Joule have?

⇒ A. My coworker flashed any BIOS before.

            >>Which OS does the Joule have?

⇒ A. Sorry. I don't know. Maybe the Joule has any of LINUX OS.

            >>Also, could you attach to your reply the file …\joule-firmware-2017-06-26-1J2-public\DNX\Flash.log?

⇒ A. I attached to my reply the file Flash.log. Please check the file.

            >>Moreover, could you please try to flash the BIOS again, but in this case add the “-clear” parameter? The command would be: Flash.bat -clear Joule_C0-X64-Release-1J2-Public_DNX.bin.

⇒ A. I tryed to flash the BIOS again with "Flash.bat -clear Joule_C0-X64-Release-1J2-Public_DNX.bin", but I got the same error.

              Hi,

              Thanks for the information provided.

We tested the BIOS 1J2 from the download center, removed any files from "Checking your Host Environment", and re-flashed the board using the -clear parameter. The board booted up fine with no issues.

Could you please flash the board with the previous BIOS 1H3 and let us know if you observe the same behavior? Also, please make sure the board is in DNX boot mode before flashing.

              Regards,
              -Yermi A.

                Hi,

Do you have any updates for this case? Could you flash the 1H3 BIOS?

                Regards,
                -Yermi

                  Dear Yermi

                  Sorry for the late reply.

I have two Joule modules. I flashed two boards with the previous BIOS 1H3 and I observed the same behavior.

Also I made sure the board is in DNX boot mode before flashing.

                  I can't find a solution.I'm sorry.

Please let me check again next time, because I don't have enough time right now.

                  Thank you for support.

                  Best regards.
