creating a custom resolution at 1366x768 creates 1368x768

@I have an external monitor that supports 1366 x 768 resolution. I create a custom resolution in the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, which it saves at 1368 x 768. 1368 is not supported by my monitor, only 1366. How can I force Intel HD Graphics Control Panel to save at 1366 x 768?

DavidBlack652: Thank you very much for joining the Intel® Graphics communities. We will do our best in order to try to fix this problem.

Could you please provide the graphics report of your computer? In order to do that, please right click anywhere on the desktop and look for the option: Intel® HD Graphics control panel, once you open that, choose "options and support", then select "information center", and then choose where it says "file" at the bottom, you will get a text file, please attach it to this thread, so we can verify it.

To attach a file, you must click "Use Advanced Editor" in the top right corner of the response box, then the "attach" option will appear in the bottom right corner of the response box.

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Alberto R

DavidBlack652: Thank you very much for providing those files, we really appreciate that. According to the report you gave us I can see that the graphics driver version installed is 4531, there is a newer version in our web site which is 4703, please install that driver in order to be able to create a custom resolution:

Also, some monitors have their own driver, please get in contact with the manufacturer of the monitor or visit their web site in order to confirm if there is a driver for it.

Any further questions, please let me know.

I've tried three versions of the driver to get updated and either "Your computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software" or "This operating system is not supported"

Via the Lenovo site, I've updated all firmware and drivers that I can find.

Still not getting 1366 x 768.

Another message is "This installation package is not supported by this processor type". That's the 32 bit version of the one that you recommended installing.

DavidBlack652: Thank you very much for providing those details. If you get into the Intel® HD Graphics control panel and choose "display" you should be able to see an option that says "Custom Resolutions", did you try that option already?

Also, we can try to install the graphics driver 4703 manually:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html

Please install the SSU tool (System Support Utility):

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility

Once you do that, the tool will allow you to save the information as a file, please attach it to this thread, in order for us to see it.

Any questions, please let me know.

Manually updating the driver by unpacking the .zip then pointing device manager at the directory and get the message that the best driver is already installed.

SSU output attached.

If is from the custom resolution that this problem started. I create a custom resolution of 1366 x 768 and Intel® HD Graphics control panel saves at 1368 x 766.

DavidBlack652: Thank you very much for providing those results. By any chance, did you test the PC using the single display configuration on the external monitor?

Any questions, please let me know.

Hi Alberto.

Not sure what you mean by single display. If it relates to creating a custom resolution, see attached.

Hi DavidBlack652: Thank you very much for providing those pictures. What we meant with using the single display configuration on the external monitor, is basically to disable the monitor of the laptop and use just the external one. Not sure if you try this already?

Any questions, please let me know.

DavidBlack652: Thank you very much for letting us know the results. From our side, we can confirm that the Intel® HD Graphics 5500 controller supports the resolution you are trying to set on the laptop. The manufacturer of the laptop has the possibility to customize all the features on it and sometimes they can block some options, it seems to be this is the case and the closest resolution allowed is 1368 x 768. So, at this point to contact Lenovo directly will be the next thing to do to verify if they have any further suggestions on this matter or to contact the manufacturer of the monitor for a possible firmware update and to confirm if in fact it supports the resolution you are looking for:
