for some reason this thing refuses to boot from x86 w10, but x86 x64 linux and x64 windows boots just fine, any ideas why? I've tried multiple w86 w10 ISOs and MBR BIOS-EUFI and GPT MBR EUFI etc, it just wont boot w10 if its x86

Hello /message/491429# 491429 z8300,

Thank you for contacting the Intel community.

The Intel Atom® x5-Z8300 Processor codename Cherry Trail supports Windows® 10 32 bit and 64 bit you can see here:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/processors/000006105.html Intel® Processor Support for Microsoft Windows® 10

What is your system model? I'm asking because most likely the processor is not the problem, it could be that your motherboard chipset and BIOS doesn't work with Windows 32 bit.

Please let me know.

Best regards,

Ivan U.

its a nuvision TM800W610L, yeah I think it must be a BIOS issue, I can't find a legacy-boot option or anything related, but its just strange it can boot x86 linux and not w10 :s

I would say so, have you tried contacting you system manufacturer to find out if they have this limitation on your system BIOS?

I would suggest you to contact them and get more detailed information about it, it looks like your system came with Windows® 10 64bit, you can see here:

well after checking the linux ISO I see it has an x64 x86 bootloader that then hands off control to an x86 kernel so it can bypass UEFI's restriction regarding OS-firmware bit depth having to match, there's no legacy CSM option I can find in settings although it mentions CSM along some secureboot settings, so essentially I'm stuck with x64 w10 unless I can find another ISO that does the same trick as linux

anyway thanks for the help Ivan, if anyone has the same problem as me at least this thread could point them in the right direction I guess
