1. Re: S1200BTL Strange Behavior

In regards to your issue, test your system without any memory running the minimal system configuration, you should get 3 long beeps, this means that your system is detecting your processor. If you do not get any beep code the problem can be either with your processor or your new Intel® Server Board S1200BTL.
The beep code sequence 1-5-4-2 that there is a power fault and the DC power unexpectedly lost (power good dropout) also that the power unit sensors report power unit failure offset. We do recommend testing another power supply.
For more information click here or page 140 on technical product specification .
Finally you can swap your processors and check if the problem continues here.
Best regards,

oaboubakr Aug 2, 2017 5:10 AM (in response to Intel Corporation)Hello Sergio,
Thank you for your response. I have indeed tested the board with multiple power supplies and mutiple CPUs with the same result, unfortunately. The previous owner has also confirmed that the board was working fine before shipping it to me. have taken it with me overseas so I wouldn't be able to return to him either.
The strange thing is, over the past two days the board was behaving erratically because at some point it posted and it booted but only for two consecutive times. After shutting it down and powering it up again it wouldn't work at all.
Now what I only get is the 1-5-4-2 beep code even with no Memory inserted, I don't even get the 3 beeps that I used to get with no RAM.
I think I will open a case to try and locate an authorized service center near by.
Thanks again Sergio.

JBBG Aug 4, 2017 10:16 AM (in response to oaboubakr)Hi,
maybe worth a try, have you checked the BIOS battary? Personally I've seen very strange behavior on another board family (S1200SP) when there was a faulty BIOS battery installed.

oaboubakr Aug 6, 2017 7:43 AM (in response to oaboubakr)Hello Sergio,
Thanks for your response. I don't have another memory to test with at this stage but I will keep this in mind for now.
As for the warranty, I don't think it applies as I have bought this board second hand.
Hello JBBG,
Unfortunately changing the BIOS battery did not help, but thank you for the suggestion.
Thanks
Omar
