Thanks for reaching out!
I'm confused, you mention that you are on the last step, installing the Arduino 101 driver but in https://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/Arduino101#toc14 it is stated that the board doesn't require a driver for Linux. Are you instead trying to install the board package through the Arduino Boards Manager as explained in https://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/Arduino101#toc2 ?
If so, then make sure that you are on a non-limited network, I have had issues with this while on a VPN or a restricted network. Also, please note that the Arduino 101 is supported by Arduino.cc, so if you continue to have issues with this, I'd recommend you to contact them on https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/ContactUs, you might get a more accurate response there.
On the other hand questions directly related with the Curie module are supported by us, so, feel free to contact us any time you have a doubt regarding the module itself.
I hope this information helps you,
now it works! I think the problem was my firewall.
