Do I really need hyperthreading?

I'm planning to buy a 21.5" iMac but a little undecided between the i5 or i7 processors. i7s come with hyperthreading and i5s don't. I'll be using 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD and the computer will have a dedicated GPU. I won't be playing games or doing any video editing (I might but not professionally). However I'll definitely have several programs opened at once like having several tabs opened in Firefox and Chrome, Photoshop, IDE for coding, desktop email client and a couple of things more. I've also heard that hyperthreading generates more heat output and consumes more power. So would I benefit from i7's hyperthreading or would i5 be enough for my purpose?
