WiFi problem in Ubuntu

Hi,

I have just installed Ubuntu 14.04 on Euclid but after instalation, I found out Ubuntu could not recognize Wi-Fi. How can I fix this problem or how can I install Wi-Fi driver myself? Thanks For your consideration.

Are you able to detect any wi-fi signals at all?

If you can but cannot connect to a particular one, could you check please whether your wi-fi connection is configured correctly. The Euclid operating guide has the following instructions:

* Power-on your personal device - either a laptop, tablet, smart phone or other Wi-Fi enabled device. Please be sure that your personal device is within 3 meters of the Intel® Euclid™ Development Kit.

* Access the settings of your personal device and use the wireless setup facility to connect your personal device to the Intel Euclid Development Kit. Find the SSID "EUCLID_XXXX" and connect to it (where XXXX is an alphanumeric code that is unique to your individual device).

The password that you will need is "12345678".

* Open the browser on your personal device and enter the following IP address: " http://10.42.0.1/" and hit ENTER. This will open the main portal for the Intel Euclid Development Kit.

Note: On some devices, you will get a prompt that there is not internet on this network, do you still want to connect. Please select yes and you can access Euclid's web interface.

The root (admin) user for the Ubuntu machine is "euclid" and the password is "euclid" as well

Hi ,

Thanks for your fast answer. I think you misunderstood. I installed new OS (Ubuntu 14.04) in Euclid but after the installation, the board could not recognize Hardware (wi-fi card). If i connect an external wi-fi card, it works but not onboard wifi.

Actually, I have lots of problems when I change the OS. After installing any OS, I faced these problems: Wi-Fi was not recognized by OS, Cooling fan did not work, cameras were not recognized,...

So, I appreciate it if Euclid support team finds a solution to these problems due to now users are limited to use the preinstalled Ubuntu on Euclid, which is not appropriate for some applications. Thanks for your consideration.

I'm very sorry to hear about your further troubles. Hopefully a member of the Euclid team can advise you. In the meantime, you can download the Euclid restore image from the following link if you need to restore Euclid to factory default state. Usually you cannot contact people outside of the support team directly ... or at least, they may not respond unless they choose to do so. This is because the support team acts as the front door to Intel, and can contact other Intel personnel on your behalf.

I'll link this discussion to Intel employee Amit Moran - amitmoran - since Amit has kindly helped on this forum with a number of other Euclid questions.

Hi Omid,

Ubuntu 14.04 is not supported in Euclid.

Current supported OS is Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with Euclid drivers.

Thanks for your answer. But how can I install Euclid drivers on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS? Actually, I need to change the kernel to low latency and Also, in this case (low latency kernel on Preinstalled Ubuntu on Euclid) I faced the same problem.

Unfortunately we cannot support any other OS but current official release.

I do however would like to assist in checking the kernel release repository, as well as drivers for Ubuntu 16.04.

In any case we cannot assure stability impact of such change to the system.

I do appreciate if you let me know how can I install at least Wi-Fi and cooling fan driver which is more urgent for me. because I could not find wi-fi card either in PCI or USB devises list ( How was it connected to Euclid? ).

Please try the euclid kernel:

git clone https://git.launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux-euclid

git clone git+ssh://git.launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux-euclid

You can try to install the official Ubuntu on Euclid and then replace the kernel debs.
