    NUC6i5SYK No Video (Windows 7)

I have a NUC6i5SYK that runs Windows 7 and is hooked to an LCD TV via HDMI cable, and has worked great for almost a year.  Four days ago the video stopped while my wife was watching.  When I power on, the blue boot light looks normal but no splash screen or any subsequent video - nothing.  I bought a Mini Display Port -> HDMI cable and tried with that, but still no video.  From my limited understanding and a few google searches, I'm guessing this could be a bios/hdmi type issue - but this is just a guess.  Anything I can think of to try though (bios update perhaps - I'm not sure how to do that but can follow steps) will require video, and the only output is HDMI and mini Display Port, so I'm not even sure how I could do that?  Can someone give me something I can try?  I don't mind buying another cable (HDMI -> VGA???), but don't want to bother if it doesn't make sense.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

: Thank you very much for joining the Intel® NUC communities.

In this case in order to try to fix the problem, we can try to test the NUC with the minimal configuration, please use just one memory RAM stick and disconnect the hard drive, we should get an error message or the BIOS that way. If you have the option to test it with a different HDMI cable or on another monitor or TV that will be good thing to try as well.

We can also try a BIOS recovery, since it can be done without display, on the link below you will find the instructions of how to do that and the file needed, version 0061 latest:

            I tried:

            1. booting with only 1 RAM stick and no SSD (minimal configuration) - with no luck,
            2. booting a different windows 7 laptop using the same cables and monitor, which worked.  (the problem is definitely my NUC / HDMI.)
            3. booting with a different HDMI cable - with no luck,
            4. Doing a BIOS recovery - with no luck.  This was very hard without a monitor and I can't be sure my process was accurate.  When I held down the power button for over 3 seconds the NUC powers up but then after 3 seconds shut off, so I tried going exactly 3 seconds ( ) .  the USB light flashed, so perhaps it read the BIOS Recovery file, but who knows???  I left the NUC on for about 10 minutes and it never shut off after that.  I powered down manually and restarted, but still no display.

Can I perhaps send my NUC somewhere and have it "repaired".  It's just a year old and fits my needs perfectly.  I spent so much time loading Windows 7 and configuring Windows Media Center I don't want to give up yet!!!

Please let me know if there are any other options.

: Thank you very much for letting us know that information.

At this point pretty much we tried all the troubleshoot steps we recommend for this scenario, we are sorry to hear the problem remains and based on those results, it seems to be the problem is the NUC itself. If there is a PC repair store close to you then you can always get in contact with them in order to verify if they can fix it. Remember that the NUC has 3 years of warranty and we can always replace it for you, please get in contact directly with Intel to do that:

This won't be as invasive as your think. Since Windows 7 is installed onto your SSD and you will be moving this SSD to the new unit, it should simply be a matter of installing latest BIOS (if necessary), verifying BIOS settings and then booting from your SSD...

                Hope this helps,
