I have been looking for the information that I believe you may find useful, according to the Intel® RealSense™ Camera SR300 datasheet, the depth capture range is from 0.2 to 1.5m, also you can take a look at the “Depth and Infrared Data Formats”. In addition to that, depending on the algorithm you use, the operating ranges change, as it is stated in the SDK R3 documentation: Algorithm Operating Ranges.
Moreover, I’d like to share this article: Robotics Development Kit R200 Depth-Data Interpretation, there is mentioned that the default scale of an Intel RealSense SR300 camera is 1/32th of a millimeter.
