Thank you for contacting the Intel community.
Please bear in mind that your best contact support is with your computer manufacturer as they are more familiar with your system and how all the components interact with each other.
However we can try the following and I’m sorry if you already try this:
You did not mention the chipset driver version for your system but the latest chipset version for the Intel® C216 Chipset can be downloaded here:
If the driver from the link above does not work try this previous version:
The Intel 3.0 extensible host controller driver that you are trying to install is the one from the Dell website or from the Intel® download center?
You can try the one from the Intel® download center:
USB 3.0 Driver: Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Intel® 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family
If you get this error installing this driver try with the driver from your computer manufacturer website, you should be able to get this driver here:
NOTE: This link is being offered for your convenience and should not be viewed as an endorsement by Intel of the content, products, or services offered there.
Please let me know how it goes.
Thank you for the prompt response.
I tried both of the above Chipset driver updates on several different systems, to no avail.
For the USB eXtensible host controller i have tried both Dells suggestion and the one listed on your website, both cause BSOD. Are there any earlier verisons of the Host Controller Driver i could try?
Unfortunately that is the only version available that I could find, perhaps you can try to Perform Silent Installation for Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver
I hope that helps.
Sadly that did not work either. Still getting BSOD. I did however find a laptop where it does work, and i have been comparing driver versions with the one that works. I noticed that on the one that works the driver version for the chipset was 188.8.131.521. I've been digging around for awhile and cannot find a reliable source to download it from. Do you know if its hidden somewhere on intels website? Thanks
Unfortunately that is the version available at the Intel website for this specific chipset, any other version needs to be provided by the computer manufacturer.
At this point, I suggest you to contact your computer manufacturer and find out if there is a setting in your computer BIOS that helps with your USB 3.0 configuration.
From our end the driver is working fine and it looks that there is something on your system that is preventing this driver to properly work.
At this point, I suggest you to talk directly with a Dell agent for further assistance.
hi cloveless, I noticed that on the one that works the driver version for the chipset was 184.108.40.2061. ?? You can found driver package intel 220.127.116.11.11? i have same issue BSOD DELL Optiplex 7010 SFF
