Intel SR300 DCM failed to detect an Intel® RealSense™ 3D camera

Hi,

I know the Depth function for SR300 will not work on Windows 10 Creators Update (/community/tech/realsense/blog/2017/04/07/windows-10-creators-update-build-15063-is-not-compatible-with-intel-realsense-sr300-camera-driver https://communities.intel.com/community/tech/realsense/blog/2017/04/07/windows-10-creators-update-build-15063-is-not-compatible-with-intel-realsense-sr300-camera-driver). However, I'm not able to install the DCM. It fails with this error:

I can't conclude that this is the same issue therefore I'm asking for some help here.

Windows cannot access the file for one of the following reasons: there is a problem with the network connection, the disk that the file is stored on, or the storage drivers installed on this computer; or the disk is missing. Windows closed the program Intel(R) RealSense(TM) SR300 FW Update Tool because of this error.

User Action

1. Open the file again. This situation might be a temporary problem that corrects itself when the program runs again.

2. If the file still cannot be accessed and

- It is on the network, your network administrator should verify that there is not a problem with the network and that the server can be contacted.

- It is on a removable disk, for example, a floppy disk or CD-ROM, verify that the disk is fully inserted into the computer.

3. Check and repair the file system by running CHKDSK. To run CHKDSK, click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK. At the command prompt, type CHKDSK /F, and then press ENTER.

4. If the problem persists, restore the file from a backup copy.

5. Determine whether other files on the same disk can be opened. If not, the disk might be damaged. If it is a hard disk, contact your administrator or computer hardware vendor for further assistance.

I tried to run the FWUpdater seperatly command : FWUpdateSR300.exe -oemId:0xcafecafe -force but keep getting this error:

In the Windows device manager everything seems fine:

The computer is a fairly new Pentium G4600 on a B250 chipset and 16gb of ram. I don't think it's a CPU or motherboard compatibility issue hence I'm all out of wits.

Hi,

I have same problem with Razer Stargazer. This both use same Intel RealSense 3D SR300 camera panel.

 

- that's all they said. I have same issues.

Hi guys,

Thanks for interested in the Intel® Realsense™ Platform.

The reason why you are not able to install the DCM is because the Depth Camera Manager doesn't recognize your Camera drivers, like the announcement states ( ) the RGB functions may work normally, but it's not guaranteed.

We would encourage you to downgrade your Windows version in order to be able to use again your SR300.

Hi,

Unfortunately, that's not gonna cut it. There are features from the Creator Update that we'll use and therefore we'll wait for an updated driver which fixes the issue. Is there an estimated ETA? It's not like the Creator Update was such a surprise for anyone out there and that as far as I know, the problem is far from new.

Really? That is your explanation? Let me clue you in on something. Until the 5/8/17 drivers were released, my cam worked fine on 16193. Which is a Redstone 3 build. So I do not know where you got your information. But it is wrong. And it does work on Creators Update.

I understand that it is frustrating, if I were in your position I would probably feel the same way. I just wanted to let know that a possible workaround has been published in the Realsense Forum ( ), the announcement points to a thread ( ) created by Slothameedees where he shares the steps that he followed in order to fix this issue.

Yes I went through that step by step. I know that it worked for that person on 3 PC's. But I tried it five times on ONE PC and still didn't get it to work...

So What's the current status on this issue? Is it a high severity issue or low?

Now I think it's beyond operational status. Now I have tried the camera on 2 machines and a Virtual Machine, and it won't activate. All because I tried to update the firmware like it said in that post.

Good lord, what have I done?

Ok, I am not one to give up easily. So.. I made a total backup of my Current Drive C. Reformatted and reinstalled 15063 (Creator's Update) from scratch.

Lookee what I see, Virtual Driver! Awesome. Next we try to play some video on it.,

Do you see what I see? My snacks. so this works on Creator's update. Now let's break it.

I have NOT turned on the option for "Give me updates for other Microsoft Products when I update Windows" yet. That's in a minute. Restart after the updates. OK.

Reboot and look what version we have now and ... The virtual Driver is STILL THERE!

We turn on the option:

I'm sure within a few days or less there will be an update that shows the Intel - Image from 5/8/2017.

And shortly afterwards look:

Looks like we have a Depth driver just got installed.. let me reboot and see if it's trashed.

Part 3 is a reboot and still working. But I fear an update will make it not work again.. Stay Tuned.

DO make it sooner than later. No excuse whatsoever for people to be having this issue. None! Get this taken care of.

This is still happening. My machine just updated to Creators update and then boom camera did not work. It wont let me reinstall the driver as it tries to update camera firmware and fails. Anyone got around this problem?!

Really, that's the OFFICIAL statement?

Tell me oh Intel technicians, Why the camera was working since End of March PERFECTLY until yesterday when a driver:

Disabled the camera yesterday. Feel free to take your time fixing it, as we all send our cameras back and get on Social Media "Praising" your accomplishments.

Not cool. If it's not broken, don't fix it.

And here it is, 3 weeks later.

 

Still working. But in many cases a fresh install isn't an option.
