Can I use Direct Cable when connecting PC to PC?

When connecting PC and PC directly

In general, a cross cable is used.

I saw a PC to PC connection via a direct cable.

We confirmed that the ping test works normally.

There seems to be a separate LAN card to support this ...

Is there a way to check in the Network attribute?

Or is there a supported Chipset series?

Hi 종혁 원,

Thank you for posting your inquiry at Wired community. Use cross over cable when connecting to two network adapter directly due to MDI(medium dependent interface) to MDI or MDIX to MDIX. However, with the auto-MDIX on the network adapter nowadays, you can use straight through cable to connect the PC with network adapters that support auto-mdix as it can automatically detect the configuration. Please provide what is the network adapter you use.

Thanks,

Dear. Intel officers and employees.

Thank you for the reply.

The INTEL LAN CARD Chipset we use is Intel® Clarkville i217LM and Intel® Springville i210-AT.

It is a LAN built in SIMATIC IPC547E model of SIEMENS.

I heard that LAN CARD with 'auto-MDIX' function was released for a few years ago.

I want to know when the release date is,

Where can I find 'auto-MDIX' LAN Chipset information?

Hi 종혁 원

Intel Gigabit network adapters support Auto-MDIX, you may refer to the launch date of each network adapter at https://ark.intel.com/products/family/46829/Intel-Gigabit-Server-Adapters

Both I217LM and I210-AT supports auto-MDIX, please refer to the datasheet below

for reference:

I217-LM

I210-AT

Auto-MDIX was developed by HP* engineers, please refer to this third party website for reference https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medium-dependent_interface (note: this is third party website for your reference, Intel does not have control over the content)

Hope the above information help.

Hi 종혁 원,

Hope all goes well. Please continue to consult with Siemens for the auto-MDIX since the I217 and I210 were integrated to their system, further customization might have been made.

Thanks,

sharon
