only vga working, built-in monitor and HDMI not working?

Hello,

I have not done anything special with my computer yesterday. I just turned it off and then when I started it back again a few hours later, there was nothing on the built-in monitor of my acer E1-510 laptop, neither by HDMI, although I could see the pointeron the tv plugged on the HDMI port.

I have tried to recover to a previous working state

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers (older and newer ones)

Now I can see a shadow on the monitor. Very dark. I could think the problem is the screen of the laptop but since the hdmi is not working neither, I think there is a problem with the Graphics card.

Could somebody help me please?

Thank you!

Hello mbinette,

I understand you are getting a black screen on the built-in display and also on the HDMI monitor.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

In order to help you better I would like to gather more information about the configuration you have in the computer. Please attach to this thread the .txt file the Intel® System Support Utility will generate https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility

Let me know if you can see the Acer* splash screen on the built-in display as soon as you turn on your computer.

If possible test the system in Single Monitor with built-in display and then with the HDMI display, and let me know if issue persists or not.

To attach a file, you must click "Use Advanced Editor" on the upper right hand corner of the response box, then the "attach" option will appear on the bottom right hand corner of the response box.

Regards,

Fred

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

Here is the results of the test.

I see no splash screen when the computer starts, but like I said, I can see a very dark shadow (black on black).

I hope we can save the computer!

Hello mbinette,

Thanks for the information you sent to me.

Since you cannot see the Acer* splash screen then most likely this would be hardware related problem. At the Acer* splash screen there is no operating system or driver loaded yet so we can discard software problem.

The best option would be contacting Acer* directly so they can run hardware tests in your computer. This link will give you their contact information https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service-contact https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service-contact

Let me know if you have or not any other inquiry.

Regards,

I doubt the problem is hardware. If so, woudb't the HDMI outlet be working, would it? Why is the hdmi not working if the graphics card is perfect?

Thaks for not giving up...!

Hello mbinette,

What happens is that since you cannot even see the Acer* splash screen on the built-in display then we can most likely discard software issues. Please try accessing the BIOS of the computer and check if you get picture on the built-in display while you are in the BIOS. If you do not see the BIOS on the built-in display we can definitely discard Windows*/driver related problem.

Regards,
