I wanted to let you know that I tested a Microsoft IR remote with my Intel® NUC Kit NUC6i7KYK and it made the kit enter sleep mode. I also checked the Technical Product Specification(http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/NUC6i7KYK_TechProdSpec.pdf), but it only states about the CIR function to wake the unit, not to shutdown. Please let me review this matter, as soon as possible I will update the thread.
I was able to shuntdown nuc7i3bnh with an old Harmony 300 with "media center pc se" microsoft device, programming, in the button that you prefer, the command "ALT+F4" and after pressing "ok" button.
Hope that this help you
Thanks Antonino but I still wait for a real solution from Intel.
I like to use Google Home or Amazon Echo to shutdown my NUC (via Harmony Hub).
Sorry for the delay Madox, but we've finally purchased and received th Hub and Harmony Elite Remote.
I've been doing some testing and I can get the TV and AV Receiver to work just fine, but for the life of me I can't get the NUC to turn on OR off, with the devices.
Then I came across this:
It doesn't seem that they are supposed to turn the computer on or off. If there's a setup I'm missing, please let me know and I'll try again!
You are right if we discuss about a PC ... but we talk about Intel NUC
So add devices
Model number: NUC6i7KYK
Madox, do you still want help on this?
If so, please tell me how you set your remote up to control the NUC.
I apologize for the delay, I finally figured this out last week!!
I also found the same as you did that the system wakes up fine but it goes into sleep when you hit the off button.
I will let the team know.
Unfortunately now I can only test Harmony remote on NUC6i7KYK, but you can find if the source of the problem is Harmony IR code for all NUC's or it a firmware bug only for NUC6i7KYK (more probably).
"Power on works ok via IR - Harmony
Power off command system go in sleep mode."
This is not a new problem. We've discussed this (at least) since March 2016, when I bought a NUC6i3.
FWIW (nothing), my NUC6i3 / Win10 machine does exactly as yours. My NUC6i5 / Win7 machine turns on via IR, but does nothing
when I attempt to turn off via IR.
Amazing ... so after one year and 5 month no solution for a simple IR shutdown command.
Maybe the bug is only for the CIR chip in the 6th gen. of NUC ?
Update to BIOS ver. 0049... of course nothing new
A bug report has been created and the engineering team is in process of debugging this issue.
After testing this and speaking with Microsoft, we have learned that the NUC IR functionalities use what Microsoft has defined for us to use, which is going to sleep when hitting the power button, not turning off.
It works on this functionality:
Not sure why it doesn't use the "When I press the power button" functionality.
