    101 BLE Transmission Power Verification

    WSmitherman_EOG

On the Intel Curie documentation, page 46 on the below document:

      http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/curie/intel-curie-module-datasheet.pdf

The TX (transmission power) is listed as varying from -20 to +4 dBm in 4 dB increments. These units are incompatible.

Please provide confirmation of the TX units, millidecibels rather than decibels. Thank you.

          Hello WSmitherman_EOG,

Thank you for your interest in Intel® Curie™ Boards.

The information from the document is correct, dBm or decibel-milliwatt (not millidecibels), is an electrical power unit (in decibels), referenced to 1 mW; dB on the other hand, is a relative unit that indicates ratio or gain (it is a dimensionless unit), that is why the units in the document are compatible.

          Have a nice day.

          Regards,
          Andres V.
