Thanks for your reply, very decent of you. I understand the factory position, the board is not supported and you cannot make claims about what operating systems it will run except for those you have tested it with. I was hoping more for a reply from some other end user with experience in this. I can offer my experience in this to other users of this fine hardware system (this was a really great product, both in the SR1400 and SR2400 chassis) in that we have been running a number of them with Windows 2008 R2 for a number of years now with rock solid results. No problems at all. One is running Windows Small Business Server 2008 with all the integrated applications and system software it integrates. And one id \s also running SQL Server 2014. And on Ebay the system is fully supported with lots of spare parts and accessories.
We want to move up but we like the chassis so much we hate to lose that. And we don't need more speed, what it provides is plenty adequate for our needs. So we were hoping to just tear down a couple of the chassis, blow the dust out and refurbish what we have, maybe add more memory or a better disk subsystem, then run Windows 2012 or 2016 on it. So I was hoping to hear back from another end user that this has been done successfully.
Alternately, is there a newer server mainboard that will fit into an SR1400 or SR2400 chassis?
Thanks and don't get me wrong - I do appreciate your answer and do respect the position of the factory. And we are sold on Intel products!
Thank you for your feedback and I agree with you that this is a great product. Hopefully, we can get the feedback from one of our Community users that might have tested the operating system on this system. I wanted to try it on our end but unfortunately I currently do not have the equipment at hand.
We have released difference family generations since then but I would definitely recommend the following link to get more information about our current products.
