Hello MisterKJ,

Thank you for contacting Intel Communities.

After checking the information on your laptop (MSI GX660) that I could find, it looks like you cannot upgrade to the Intel® Core™ i3-3110M Processor. This is because of the chipset series (5th vs 7th) along with the BIOS and RAM compatibility, to name a few. However, the best place to confirm this is the OEM (MSI).

You can check the following links for further information:

To see supported chipsets: http://ark.intel.com/products/65700/Intel-Core-i3-3110M-Processor-3M-Cache-2_40-GHz Intel® Core™ i3-3110M Processor > click on "Compatible Products".

Information to consider before upgrading: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/processors/000005682.html Intel® Desktop Processor Upgrade Information (this article also applies to mobile processors).

I hope this information helps.

Best Regards,

JC
