We understand you would like to update the firmware in your SSD but it keeps failing.
First of all, could you let us know what is the firmware version at the moment? (You can check that using the Intel® Solid-State Drive Toolbox).
The best way to try to run the firmware update is using the firmware update tool, you can download it and use the ISO file to boot the system from and run the update that way.
About the cables you are using, for you to know, the USB adapter is not going to work using the Intel® Solid-State Drive Toolbox since the program does not recognize drives not attached to the SATA port directly.
Please let us know if you can update the firmware using the firmware update tool.
Also, while the update tool loads on my windows 7 box, it doesn't recognize the drive with either cable. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.
On this case, since the firmware update tool does boot in your Windows* 7 system, but does not see the drive, we would like to ask you:
-What are your system's specs
-Did you try with the SSD plugged in the USB or SATA cable (Or both ways)
-Can you try the update in a laptop computer?
For the Windows* XP system, about the firmware error, you can try to setup the BIOS of the system in legacy mode and try again.
Please let us know, we'll be waiting for you.
I've tried a few more computers and finally found a combo that worked. Thanks for taking your time to help.
